Assistance
to Hutsul National Park
This project will result in 129 days of
voluntary public service that will strengthen local and regional civil society,
environmental consciousness, and tourism as an economic sector. The project has
a very strong coalition of different organizations that support it and provide
a commitment for future maintenance needs.
The project goal is to develop tourism as
an economic sector while promoting public participation in civic actions.
Alumnus will achieve this goal by consulting with the Community Fund of Dolyna
and working cooperatively with Kosiv based organizations and volunteer leaders
including the Kosiv based US Peace Corps Volunteers. Together our team will
plan, schedule, and realize a total of 129 volunteer days of activities during
a four-month period.
The activities include:
- Continuous public outreach and media campaign;
- Clean 15 kilometers of new national park trail;
- Mark and GPS 147 kilometers of new and existing national park trails;
- Install 25 small navigation signs over 147 kilometers of new and existing national park trails;
- Collect and remove trash from national park trails; and
Increasing
Skills and Volunteerism of FLEX Alumni in Western Ukraine.
This proposal joins a USG alumnus and CP in
a project that develops project design and management skills of FLEX Alumni
while increasing volunteerism for environmental projects in the Carpathian
Mountains. The project will deliver 235 volunteer days of public service.
The overall goal of this project is to
enhance the process of democratization in Ukraine. The specific goals of this
project are:
1) To support the implementation of desired trainings and limited
scale practical activities at local and regional levels; and
2) To demonstrate
and propagandize the impact of the public service projects.
The first event is to provide 8 hours of
theoretical Project Design and Management training to 15 FLEX Alumni in
Ivano-Frankivsk and 15 FLEX Alumni in Lviv. The second event is to provide a
variety of practical experiences in the Carpathian Mountains to this cohort of
30 young adults to imprint project planning and management skills.
Activities such as scheduling and
accomplishing: the refurbishment of a mountain hut; the assessment of the
condition of hiking trails; light maintenance on hiking trails; and area-wide
trash clean-ups.
The Development of Corporate Volunteering and Volunteerism in the Eastern Carpathian Mountains
This proposal joins a USG alumnus and CP in
a project which develops Corporate Volunteering and increases volunteerism for
environmental projects in the Carpathian Mountains.
The project goal is to increase public
participation in civic actions. The goal will be achieved by CP and the USG
alumnus cooperating and coordinating to plan, schedule, and realize a minimum
of 167 volunteer days over a four-month period.
The program activities include:
* Constructing, marking and signing
25 kilometers of new Dolyna Rayon hiking trails; * Installing a new trailhead sign;
* Refurbishing the Hycha mountain hut; and
* Gathering and removing trash while performing all of the activities.
